Acoustic and Vibration Testing
WE MEASURE, ANALYZE, AND DESIGN.
With state-of-the-art equipment, we conduct measurements and identify building problem areas.
We support architects and other construction professionals to ensure new structures are comfortable and healthy for their occupants.
Ultrasonic and infrasonic sound and vibration testing with traceable certified equipment.
ACOUSTIC and VIBRATION ANALYSIS
We test for noise level, subsonic/infrasonic, ultrasound, oscillations, and vibration.
SOUND & VIBRATION MITIGATION
We offer practical noise and vibration control consultation to mitigate unwanted noise and vibration.
We provide onsite testing for medical labs and research centers for the placement of sensitive equipment.
Noise surrounds us, from televisions and radios to lawnmowers and washing machines. Typically, you hear these sounds at safe levels that don’t affect hearing. However, exposure to excessive noise can damage hearing. Harmful or annoying levels of noise are considered noise pollution.
Noise is a stressor, and like any other stressor, it ramps up the sympathetic nervous system (the “fight or flight” response) and increases levels of adrenaline and the stress hormone cortisol.
Sources Of Acoustic Noise
INTERNAL NOISE
Equipment and Appliances
Motors and Turbines
Electrical Noise
Uncontrolled noise from outdoors
OUTDOOR NOISE
Windfarm blades
Construction (industrial-scale or domestic)
Transportation: busy roads, local traffic, trains, aircraft, etc.
Industrial Factory noise
Sporting Events and Outdoor Concerts
Neighborhoods: loud music, barking dogs, landscape equipment, construction
Target practice ranges
Health Effects Of Noise Stress
Lower levels of noise can produce sleep disturbance, cardiovascular effects including heart attacks and stroke, learning impairment, weakened immune system, high blood pressure, irritability, psychiatric symptoms and impaired fetal development.
Elevated environmental noise can have the same low level symptoms plus hearing impairment, tinnitus, hypertension, ischemic heart disease, annoyance, and sleep disturbance.
